You've come to the right place if you're looking for exquisite food or even just a variety of choices. The King of Prussia area alone is loaded with restaurants that cater to nearly any cuisine you can wish for.
Also, for those willing to travel to the city, there are any number of fantastic restaurants. I've been to a number of them, so I'll list only those restaurants I've been to and can vouch for. If you don't see it here, ask! I know people who dine out frequently and I can get some feedback for you.
Let's start locally.
Thanks to the revitalization of the downtown Phoenixville area, you are blessed with a number of good choices within just a few miles of the Park. Any of these eateries are worth a visit.
La Creperie Cafe Bis: I love this place! It's brand new in town, and we're regular customers. It's BYOB, but it's just a few door up from the state store. Vegetarian friendly.
The Columbia Hotel: Oh, I love the margaritas here! The place is upscale and the food is quite good. Talented chef, talented bartenders. Not vegetarian friendly.
Black Lab Bistro: This used to be a nice breakfast spot and I liked the food quite a lot. Now they don't serve breakfast, but have really kicked up the lunch and dinner menus a few notches. The food is beautifully presented. Where else in town can you get ostrich filet? Not vegetarian friendly, with just a few dishes that can be converted to meatless.
Iron Hill Brewery: I confess - I don't like the food here. My daughter didn't, either. But they do have a microbrewery onsite and they seem to attract lots of customers. I'll leave it up to you, but for my money, I'd walk up the street to the Columbia or La Creperie. Not vegetarian friendly.
Thai Place: Go west on 23 until you see McDonald's. Turn right into the shopping center. On the far right, you'll see one of the best little Thai places around. The Pad Thai is great here! Vegetarian friendly.
Majolica: It really is exceptional food. Great presentation, and worthy of a special night. Vegetarian friendly.
Molly Maguire's: Ah, who doesn't love an Irish pub? This one boasts not one, but three bars on two floors. It's crowded and noisy, but if you're looking for a place to hang out with friends, this is it. The food is quite good! Vegetarian capable.
Just inside the mall you'll find numerous choices that fit both vegetarian and meat-eating diets. There are also a number of good restaurants in the King of Prussia area. The mall also has three food courts with a variety of chain and specialty foods - from McDonald's to Boardwalk Fries and from Gyros to Indian.
Inside the Mall:
TGIFridays: It's a chain. It caters to everyone. It's good food. What more can I say? Vegetarian friendly.
Ruby's Diner: A fun, 1940s-inspired place with nice food choices. Numerous burgers, lots of fries, and milkshakes that are amazing. Kids will love the trains that run overhead. Vegetarian friendly choices.
California Cafe: An upscale place that offers fare from the four elements - earth, air, fire and water. Terrific pizza, even better pasta. Don't be fooled - just because it offers pizza does not make it a pizzeria! Vegetarian friendly.
Bertolini's: I love their focaccia bread! One of my go-to places when I want a good meal and I don't want to search for it. Slightly upscale place with amazing Italian food. Vegetarian friendly.
The Cheesecake Factory: Even though I'm not crazy about their cheesecake, I think the food is quite good here. Vegetarian friendly.
Outside the Mall:
I'm a fan of good Indian food. If you are too, you're in luck. Here are two within easy driving distance of the mall.
Desi Village - a nice restaurant tucked behind the Best Western in King of Prussia. The food is fresh (and with Indian food, you can certainly tell otherwise) and the service is pleasant. One of our regular stops. About two miles from the park going west past the mall. Cross over Rte. 202/DeKalb Pike and turn right into the parking lot just past the Best Western entrance. Vegetarian friendly.
Jaipur - They're good. They catered our wedding. Need I say more? Actually, I do need to say more. This restaurant ranks right up there among the best Indian food in terms of service and choices. The food is good. Really good. No website yet, but here's a link to a map. They're north on Rte. 202/DeKalb Pike in a shopping center and across from the Hyatt. Third or fourth light (can't remember offhand), make a left into the shopping center. Vegetarian friendly.
Chili's - Yes, another chain. But they have such nice margaritas. Pass the mall and cross over Rte. 202/DeKalb Pike. They're on your left (and you'll see them). Vegetarian capable.
Maggiano's Little Italy - Oh, is this a nice place! And because it's nice, it's often crowded and the wait can be long. Get there early, or better yet - call and make reservations. Right next to the mall (near Sears and Crate and Barrel) on Mall Blvd.
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse - I'm a vegetarian, so you're on your own here. But it's popular, it's pricey and my meat-eating chums say it's good and it rivals Morton's. Not vegetarian friendly (and you'd be crazy to expect it to be!)
Bahama Breeze - This is a fun restaurant. Caribbean themed, and the drink menu reflects that, as well as some of the entrees. Definitely worth it if only for the atmosphere. Big restaurant that's easily filled every night. Might want to call ahead. Vegetarians can get by on some of their appetizers, but sadly their black bean soup is chicken-based. If you can survive on yet one more portabello sandwich, this one's a good one. Located just off Mall Blvd. (you'll see it from the mall - it's perched up on a hill overlooking the mall). Vegetarian capable.
Chammps - Good food. Pricey burgers, for sure. Not a lot here for meatless diners. Folks' main complaint has always been "Why do I have to pay so much for a burger and fries?" They're good burgers, but would that sway those who aren't picky? Not vegetarian friendly.
